History of the MRHS

On December 12, 1982, the Muskegon Railroad Historical Society held their charter meeting in the meeting room of the Muskegon Heritage Association on Western Avenue in Muskegon, Michigan.  A proposed charter was formed and submitted to an attorney for review, and the first board of directors was elected.  The elected board was as follows:
       President: Ken Kadrovich
       Vice President: Gust Danigelis
       Secretary: Kent McFaden
       Treasurer: Chuck Steward
       At Large Board of Directors:
Leo Duester, John Dykema, Betty Stewart
Over time, much developed, and the MRHS was granted space by the Muskegon Heritage Association (MHA) on the second floor of their building at 561 W. Western Avenue in Muskegon.  The building was once the Muskegon Hotel and has also been refered to as the Hathaway Building.  The building was virtually gutted by a fire in the past, and now require tremendous amounts of work.
Much progress has been made over the years, and as the site develops, additional pictures and accounts of the development, growth, and expansion of the MRHS will be highlighted.
