About the MRHS |
| Founded in December of 1982, the Muskegon Railroad Historical Society is a State of Michigan 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that provides a place for members to develop a railroad museum, construct and maintain model railroad layouts, and participate in and encourage all forms of railroading. More specifically, the purpose of the club can be summarized as follows: |

The Society shall work toward the preservation and pursuits of prototype and model railroading, historical information and artifacts, and education of the community on the history and operations of railroads in the Muskegon area. Goals of the MRHS include, but are not limited to: |
| i) To encourage and facilitate the preservation of prototype railroad equipment, structures and related items for their historical significance. |
|
ii) To participate in community functions and to educate and assist the community with railroad related projects. |
|
iii) To establish a public railroad museum and library in the greater Muskegon area for the present and future citizens of the community. |
| iv) To encourage and facilitate the preservation of model railroad equipment, structures and related items for their historical significance. |
| v) To provide an organization that focuses on all aspects of prototype and model railroading. |

| Located in the historic district of Muskegon, Michigan, the Muskegon Railroad Historical Society (MRHS) preserves and encourages the history of railroading in Muskegon County through the development and maintenance of a railroad library and video collection, model railroad layouts in three scales, and continual educational seminars and meetings revolving around all aspects of railroading. |
